Canada’s Tamara Jewett had a huge day at the Ironman 70.3 South American Championship in Buenos Aires, Argentina, yesterday, running her way onto the podium and finishing just 11 seconds out of second.
The race was won by American Chelsea Sodaro, who trailed countrywoman Rachel Olson and Brazil’s Pamella Oliveira out of the water and still found herself trailing the Brazilian starting the run. Sodaro put together the day’s second-fastest run, though, to take the win by over 10 minutes.
Oliveira hung on to second, but only just as Jewett used the days fastest run split to move herself from fifth off the bike to third by the end of the run.

Von Berg nails third regional title
American Rodolphe Von Berg is enjoying a breakthrough season in 2019 after a bronze-medal finish at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Nice to go along with the Ironman 70.3 North American and European titles. He added another regional championship to his impressive resume with the win in Buenos Aires.
Von Berg found himself in a swim and bike duel with Spain’s Pablo Dapena, the 2017 ITU Long Distance World Champion, but pulled clear of the Spaniard on the run to take the win. Dapena would hang tough for second with Brazil’s Igor Amorelli rounding out the podium.
