It was a tough day on a course that would be incredibly hard without the high winds that stopped many athletes in their tracks. But that’s Ironman 70.3 Lanzarote – it’s like “racing on another planet.” This year’s race featured a new bike course that took athletes along the spectacular El Golfo coastline, followed by a tough slog through the infamous Fire Mountains. All that was followed by a new one-loop run course that offered spectacular vistas of Playa Blanca and the mountains of Fuertaventura, another of the Canary Islands.
