Canadian Joel Filliol (pictured above with Katie Zaferes and Jelle Geens) has long been considered one of the sport’s premier coaches. He coaches world champions Katie Zaferes, Vincent Luis and Mario Mola through his JFT Crew program and was Simon Whitfield’s personal coach for his silver medal performance at the Olympic Games in 2008. He coached the Canadian program from 2006 to 2008, then went on to coach the British Triathlon program through the 2012 Olympics in London. In 2021 he was named as Triathlon Australia’s Olympic Program Head Coach.
