After a season where she’s dealt with lots of injury issues, Great Britain’s Ruth Astle put together a solid day at the Ironman World Championship in Kona, where she finished 12th. That’s not quite up to the top-five finish she put together at the May, 2022 world championship race in St. George, but a solid performance none the less, putting together the day’s eighth-fastest bike split.
Astle isn’t done for 2023, though – she’ll be taking on Ironman Cozumel this weekend, looking to add a fourth Ironman title to a resume that includes wins at Ironman Israel (2022) and a pair of wins in Mallorca and South Africa in 2021. Formerly an age-group overall champ on the Big Island, Astle turned pro in 2020, but still works a couple of days every week for Lloyds Banking Group.
We caught up with Astle in Kona to check out her speedy Argon 18 E-119 Tri+ Disc, which she’ll be taking to the flat, fast (and windy) course in Cozumel.
