The one and only full-distance race in Canada in 2025 has sold out general registration. Athletes still interested in competing in the race can still get an entry through the Ironman Foundation or “Enhanced Athlete Event Experiences.”
Ironman Canada-Ottawa will run through the heart of the country’s capital
The race in Ottawa will serve as the sole full-distance Ironman in Canada after the recent announcement that this will be the final edition of Ironman Canada-Penticton, and the cancellation of the full-distance Ironman event in Mont-Tremblant after last years race.
The sell out is obviously good news for Ironman and the choice of the capital city as an Ironman host.
“When we first identified Ottawa as a potential host location, we knew that this beautiful city would be a compelling race destination that athletes would find exciting,” said Keats McGonigal, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, North America for The Ironman Group. “We can’t wait for our athletes to come and experience some of what makes Ottawa so special and a truly unique Ironman race location next summer.”

The 2025 Ironman Canada-Ottawa triathlon will begin with a 3.8 km (2.4-mile) two-loop swim in the Ottawa River from Britannia Beach and Park. From there athletes will embark on a 2.75 loop bike course using the completely closed parkways that pass through the city of Ottawa made available by the National Capital Commission. Once through the 180 km bike course, the athletes will transition to the run in the downtown core of Ottawa and start their marathon from the base of Parliament Hill. The two-loop course will utilize some of the same completely closed parkways the bike used, but extended beyond those areas once again to trace along the Rideau Canal and the streets in front of Parliament. Athletes will enjoy a truly urban setting with a healthy dose of scenery along the Ottawa River and the Rideau Canal. The Ironman Canada-Ottawa triathlon will offer qualifying slots to the 2026 Ironman World Championship triathlons.
