It seemed like it was getting late to announce the venue and date for the T100 final, so it’s not too much of a surprise to learn that the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) and World Triathlon have announced that the seventh race of the series, Dubai, will now serve as the T100 Triathlon World Championship Final.

The Dubai race, set for Nov. 16 and 17,  is already lining up to be the biggest race of the series in terms of participation. The PTO is expecting over 10,000 participants in the weekend’s various races.

“While we originally planned for an eight-race series in 2024 and had been exploring some exciting potential venues, a combination of lining up all the approvals and those locations not being quite ready to hold an event befitting the T100 Triathlon World Championship Final made the decision to move the final to Dubai an easy one in the end,” said PTO CEO Sam Renouf.

Since the series now consists of seven instead of eight races, athletes contracted to compete in the T100 series are now obligated to compete in four (rather than the previous 5) and the Dubai T100 Triathlon World Championship Final. Athletes who competed at the Olympics who had been required to compete at three races and the final and have not already competed in a T100 race will be able to use an average of their scores from two T100 races and use that as their “third” race heading into the final.

Each of the seven races in the T100 series offers US$250,000 in prize money, with another $2 million offered for the series standings. Each individual race winner earns $25,000, with the overall champion taking home $210,000. All told, when athlete contracts are added to the mix, the series offers over $7 million in athlete compensation.

There are two more races in the T100 Series before the final in Dubai in Ibiza (Sept. 29) and Lake Las Vegas (Oct. 20).
