Cycling Canada has named its team to compete at the inaugural UCI Esports World Championships and there are two pro triathletes on it – Lionel Sanders and Angela Naeth.

The event takes place on December 8 and 9. Canada was awarded a quota of three men and women “based on the UCI Road Rankings, the number of riders registered in the Registered Testing Pool, and the number of eligible riders on the Zwift platform.” Sanders was awarded a wildcard entry by Zwift.
It will make for a busy week for both Naeth and Sanders – they are both on the start list for the Professional Triathletes Organisation’s Championships, which are part of Challenge Daytona on December 6.

Joining Naeth on the team will be Olympic track cycling medalist Georgia Simmerling and Olivia Baril, a top-10 finisher of the Zwift Academy contest last year.
Sanders will be joined by pro roadies Jordan Cheyne (Elevate – Webiplex Pro Cycling), Pier-André Côté (Rally UHC Cycling) and Charles-Étienne Chrétien (Aevolo).
