Well, take that, Challenge Daytona! Ironman has announced that it will host a second Ironman 70.3 Florida race in Haines City on December 12, a week after the Daytona event (Dec. 3 to 5). The two races are about a two-hour drive apart. In 2019 Ironman had rescheduled the Florida race for a similar weekend, but ended up cancelling the race.
We are excited to announce IRONMAN 70.3 Florida will take place on December 12, 2021 for the second time this year, serving as the 2021 season finale! General registration opens on Monday May 17th at 12pm ET. You’re not going to want to miss this! pic.twitter.com/ftMf809SEL

Throughout the pandemic Florida has been one of the most open states for events, especially triathlon races. While the Ironman 70.3 Florida race was cancelled last December, Ironman Florida in Panama City Beach did take place, as did Challenge Daytona and Challenge Miami. Many other triathlon and running events also took place in the state, too.
“If you’re looking for a race that will welcome you with open arms, look no further than Ironman 70.3 Florida,” Ironman posted on the event website. “Located just minutes from the world-famous theme parks of Central Florida, Haines City provides plenty of activities to enjoy all weekend long. This end of year event will serve as the finale for 2021 so don’t miss out on this opportunity to take part in one last big celebration before we say goodbye to 2021!”
